For some reason, real estate agents have such a hard time asking for a referral. Maybe They don't know what to say, maybe they're afraid people will be offended, or that people will think they're being pushy... who knows?
i do know Two things:
1, People don't mind giving you a referralif you give them something first. And the best thing you can give them is great service. 2. they know you are in sales. Get over it. And they know that people in sales ask for referrals. If you ask correctly, they won't mind.
So, how do you ask correctly? Here are three examples:
1. “Hey, one more thing… I really enjoyed working with you. If YOU'VE got friends or family just like you that you think would appreciate the way I work, I hope you’ll give me their name and number. I’ll follow up and take great care of them!”
2. “Could you do me a favor? If you hear of anyone who is interested in buying or selling a home, would you keep me in mind?”
3. “Listen, I won’t keep you… It's been good talking with you today. Before I go, let me just say that if any of your friends or family express an interest in buying or selling a home, it would be an honor to work with them. Just give me a call.”
